The Health Care Heroes Awards program honors individuals whose contributions to health and wellness make our community a better – and healthier – place.  The Health Care Heroes program recognizes excellence in local health care in an event at the Admiral Theatre, honoring individuals in various health care categories. Our office was elated to know that Dr. Banks is the recipient of the 2017 Health Care Hero award for “Dentists Excellence in Health Care.” The Kitsap Sun wrote a beautiful article describing Dr. Banks and her dedication to dentistry, her practice, her patients, and her team that we are very excited to share with you!

“Dr. Jessie Banks has been practicing as a pediatric dentist in Kitsap since 2007. She opened her solo practice, Kitsap Kid’s Dentistry, shortly after completing her residency in Texas.

Banks planned to go into medicine but fell in love with dentistry while in college. She especially enjoys establishing relationships with her young patients and watching them grow, as well as providing a positive experience to alleviate fears and instill confidence in both patients and families about their care.

She says that her profession opened her eyes to how much need exists in the community, not only around the world but also close to home. Banks has also found ways to give back.

One example is the Smiles for Kitsap program she launched at the practice. Smiles for Kitsap raises $1,500 every quarter for a local nonprofit, which is selected via voting by the patients and their families and friends.

During each period, Kitsap Kid’s Dentistry pledges to donate all payments for services until the goal is reached. Beneficiaries have included organizations like Holly Ridge Center, Bremerton Backpack Brigade and Soldiers’ Angels.

Banks has been recognized multiple times with “best dentist” and other awards, as well as the Richard C. Pugh Achievement Award from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

She’s been described as a selfless, humble and generous dentist and employer, as well as an outstanding leader who demonstrates compassion and integrity. Her philosophy is that dental care takes teamwork that includes the parents, the kids and the dental team.”

Congratulations Dr. Banks, and also to all of the winners in the other categories! Dr. Banks,  we are so proud of you and of the amazing work you do for patients in our community and for all of your team members. We appreciate you!
