With school back in session and fall sports shifting into gear, it is a good time to review what to do in the event of a dental trauma. As you might expect, prevention is the best plan for reducing severity of dental trauma. However, in the event a tooth is damaged, Kitsap Kid’s Dentistry is here to help take care of your child!
Baby teeth and permanent teeth should be addressed differently if knocked out completely. The baby tooth shouldn’t be re-implanted, while the adult tooth should. If you aren’t comfortable re-implanting the tooth, place it in a container with milk or saliva to transport to our office for evaluation.
For all trauma to the mouth please feel free to contact our office to discuss the level of urgency of the damage to the teeth and gums. This guide is a great reference for the next time your child takes a tumble, collides with a classmate, or gets a frisbee to the face.
Please let us know how we can help you or your child!
