Giving back to the Kitsap County community has always been a part of Kitsap Kid’s Dentistry’s mission. In October of 2015, we introduced our Smiles for Kitsap program, the main objectives of which were to raise both money and awareness for local non profit charitable organizations. So far, we have completed six quarters, and just finished wrapping up another very successful quarter! Because it had been such a hit the last time, we again chose the topic “Children” and we received a huge number of votes for the record setting 7 nonprofits that entered. In order to enter to win, one of our county’s local not profits benefiting children had to post information about their non profit on our Facebook “Smiles For Kitsap” page. The groups that entered this quarter were the previously winning Bremerton Backpack Brigade, SAVE (Survivors Against Violence and Exploitation), Poulsbo Elementary School PTSA, Kitsap Children’s Musical Theater, Girls on the Run, the Haselwood YMCA, and Sycamore Preschool . All organizations are wonderful non profits helping children in our community, and we are so excited to announce that, after receiving the most votes at a whopping 811 votes, the YMCA was the winner of our $1,500 donation! The Haselwood YMCA provides community outreach and partners with various service agencies throughout Kitsap County to ensure total health of the community in spirit, mind, and body. We are so excited to have been able to contribute to such a worthwhile organization, and we thank them for their important contributions to our community! We can’t wait to see how the Y will use the donation to support children in our community, and we want to thank all of the wonderful non profits who entered our competition.
Stay tuned for our next Smiles for Kitsap competition, coming soon!
